Introduction to Camo — Camo (2023)

To get started, you need to install Camo Studio on your computer and download Camo on your iOS or Android device. We recommend installing the mobile app first.

Get Camo on your mobile device

Camouflage is available in theapp storeygoogle play store. You can find it on both by searching for "camo".

Install Camo Studio on your computer

After downloading the app to your mobile device, you can share the app from your computer directly from Camo.

• To share from iOS to macOS, AirDrop the desktop app to your Mac by tapping the AirDrop icon on the Get Started screen.
• Touch to share with Windowssend linkfrom the Getting Started screen on Android or iOS.

Alternatively, you can download and unzip Camo Studio tomacOS hereywindow here.

After downloading Camo Studio, double-click the Camo icon to install it.

• On Windows, check the box to accept our license agreement and click on itinstall.
• Give Camo permission to install on Mac. It will move to "Applications" and set up a plugin so video conferencing applications can see and use it.

On both Windows and Mac, Camo Studio will also ask if you want to automatically check for updates. We encourage you to allow them, as we regularly release updates to maintain compatibility with a wide range of video apps and add new features and improvements.

Camo Mesh and Camo Studio

Camo allows you to connect your mobile device to Camo Studio via Wi-Fi or USB. We recommend pairing via USB for your first session as it offers the best video latency and connection stability.

If you are using an Android device and want to connect to a Windows computer, the easiest way to pair is via Wi-Fi, as the USB pairing process is more complex in this case.

Pair Camo over WiFi

Pairing Camo with Camo Studio over Wi-Fi is easy and works the same for iOS and Android devices:

1. On your computer, open Camo Studio and tap the+button next to thedeviceDropdown on the left sidebar. This will open a pairing window that will display a QR code.
2. In Camo on your mobile device, tap the wireless button at the top right, then scan the QR code displayed on your computer.
3. Your devices should automatically connect and video from your mobile device should start streaming to Camo Studio.

The minimum requirements for pairing over Wi-Fi on Apple devices are macOS Catalina (10.15, released 2019) and iOS 13 (released 2019). All supported versions of Windows and Android support Wi-Fi pairing.

Pair Camo on iOS via USB

Pairing for Camo running on iOS is automatic on both macOS and Windows. Connect your device to your computer using a standard Lightning cable and after a few seconds you should see video from your device in Camo Studio.

Pair Camo with Android via USB

The steps to pair Camo for Android differ depending on whether you're pairing with a Windows PC or a Mac.

Your Android should automatically connect to your Mac via USB. If you previously followed the steps below to connect to Windows, make sure USB debugging is enabledthe endwhen searchingdeveloper options→USB debuggingand remove the tick.

To pair Android with Windows, you have to turn aroundandUSB debugging. The instructions on how to do this vary slightly depending on the Android phone you are using. Below we describe the process with a Samsung Galaxy S20.

To enable USB debugging:

1. Connect your phone to your computer and open Camo Studio. You should see the following screen:

   

2. Follow these steps on your Android to set up your device:

   • Go tosettings, fetchbuild numberand tap it 7 times.

   • search nowdeveloper optionsinsettings, scroll down toUSB debuggingand check to turn it on.

   • To chooseAlways allow from this computermeans you only have to do this once.

You don't have to pay anything to use Camo, and the free edition has everything you need to use your iPhone as a high-quality webcam. However, if you want to unlock the full power of Camo, you can upgrade by clicking the upgrade button at the top right of Camo Studio.

A window like the one below will appear, with buttons at the bottom to purchase a license or activate a license. Clicking Buy Now will take you to the Camo checkout to purchase a license.

Once you've purchased Camo, you'll receive an email with a username and password to activate Camo. Return to Camo StudiosTo updateand selectActivate licenseto enter your credentials and start using Camo Pro.
